New Listing Danelectro DC59 1998 reissue Selling my reissue DC59 that I had purchased new in 1998 or 1997 dont remember. I think it was the first of these reissues before the China and Korean ones. Prince kiss midi files. 1958 Danelectro U3. Up for sale is a 1958 Danelectro U3 in its original 'Copper-Burst' finish. You see a fair amount of full copper and black Danos on the market but almost no Copper-Burst guitars, let alone U3s. Mainly i'm wondering about the serial number, 6 digits starting with '8' but no space between it. Les Paul Forum Member DANELECTRO's Avatar. On the Custom Shop reissues, the serial number format is as follows.
I am selling a lovingly used gloss black Dano Danelectro Longhorn 50s Reissue Bass which I purchased in 2007 at First Flight Music in New York City.
The 24 fret double octave neck and 30 inch scale make this a very playable bass.

I believe this is the original version of the Longhorn Reissue which dates it to the late nineties, but I am not sure of the exact date, it has the following serial number on the sticker inside the control cavity with the chrome cover: 9901950531 (just a guess but could be January 1999?).
It had the iridescent purple tiger stickers on it when I bought it, which add a unique fun character to it so I left them on, it also comes with an additional purple glitter pick guard in addition to the clear one.
It comes in a Danelectro Tweed lockable hard shell case with key, I purchased the case separately.

I modified the neck strap button as you can see. The original kept coming loose, this improves the instrument's balance and helps counter neck dive too. It has black Schaller strap lock buttons installed.

This instrument has been professionally set up by the luthier at Main Drag Music in Brooklyn.
The gloss black finish is in very clean condition with negligible light scuffs and a few light scratches near the bottom strap button (see picture). The white tape is coming up in a few places which is normal for a Dano. It has been played in a smoke free studio, used for recording, never gigged. The sturdy tweed case has some scrapes and scuffs - see pictures.
The lightweight hollow body produces a resonant sound and coupled with the legendary lipstick single coil pickups yields great vintage tone.

Since I moved away from NYC it sits in is case the closet, and it no longer gets any use.
It looks, plays and sounds amazing.
